The Problem
The Museum of the Moving Image’s existing identity feels outdated and does not fully represent the creativity and technology behind the museum. The branding also lacks a strong visual system that can connect with a younger audience.
The Solution
The rebrand introduces a fresh and modern visual identity inspired by movement and media. Bold typography, dynamic layouts, and flexible graphic elements create a more engaging brand that better represents the museum and its audience.
The Modular Block
Brand Concept

Brand Concept
The rebrand for MoMI is built around the idea of blocks. Each block represents a part of the creative process, coming together piece by piece, image by image, and story by story. The system reflects MoMI as a space where film, art, and technology come together to create new ways of seeing and telling stories.
Motif
The block is inspired by film frames, film strips, flip-book pages, and the screens throughout the museum. When the blocks connect and move together, they create a sense of sequence and motion, much like images coming together to create a film. The motif gives MoMI a flexible visual language that can change, move, and tell different stories.
Primary Logo
The MoMI logo is inspired by the movement and rhythm of film strips. Its flowing form suggests frames moving from one moment to the next, capturing the energy of film and the continuous motion of storytelling.
